Loading & organising
Getting files in, then narrowing thousands of them down to the ones you actually mean to change.
Three ways to load files
Add Files
Click Add Files in the toolbar, select one or more files in the native picker, and confirm. Best when you know exactly which files you want.
Add Folder
Click Add Folder and pick a directory. Every supported file beneath it loads recursively, including subfolders. This is the usual way to start a session.
Drag and drop
Drag files or a folder from Explorer, Finder, or your file manager onto the EveryMark window. Folders dropped this way are loaded recursively too.
Files load in parallel, with a progress indicator for the batch. Unsupported files are skipped rather than reported as errors. A load in progress can be aborted, and the list can be cleared without touching anything on disk.
Grid and list
Two ways to look at the loaded set:
- Grid — thumbnails with basic file info. Density is adjustable from two to six columns with Ctrl++ and Ctrl+−, or reset with Ctrl+0. Images get real thumbnails; RAW files use their embedded preview; audio and video show a type icon.
- List — a detail table with sortable columns. Better for long sets and for checking dates and sizes at a glance.
Both views are virtualised: only the rows on screen are rendered, so a thousand-file folder scrolls at full frame rate. Loading a very large set shows a notification so you know why the first paint took a moment.
Sorting
Sort by name, date modified, size, or type. In list view, click a column header to sort by it; click again to reverse. A chevron shows the active column and direction. Your sort preference persists between sessions.
Filtering & searching
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Type filter | Show only images, only video, or only audio. |
| Has GPS | Show only files that already carry coordinates — the fast way to find the ones that don't. |
| Quick search | Filter by filename as you type. |
| Quick presets | One-click filters for the common cases (images only, videos only, has GPS). |
The filter bar shows how many filters are active, so you never wonder why a file you expected isn't listed.
Grouping
Grouping reorganises the view into labelled sections with counts, in both grid and list. Group by:
- Folder — useful after loading several directories at once
- Date taken — by day, month, or year
- Type — image, video, audio
- Extension — separate the CR3s from the JPEGs
- Camera — by make and model, for multi-body shoots
Group by camera, and a two-body shoot separates into the body whose clock was right and the body whose clock wasn't. Select the second group, apply one offset, and the whole shoot lines up. Grouping isn't cosmetic — it's how you build a selection that deserves a single bulk edit.
Selecting
Delete takes files out of the loaded list only. Nothing is removed from your disk, and EveryMark has no feature that deletes files. Use it freely to prune a set down to what you're working on.
Preview
The preview panel shows the selected image with zoom controls. RAW files display their embedded preview, so you see the frame without waiting for a full decode. Videos and audio show file and technical information instead — duration, codec, bitrate, sample rate, channels.
